Figures

  • Foot up
  • Half hands
  • Back-to-back
  • Rounds

As with most zoomington dances, half of the set may optionally mirror all figures by starting to the right instead of the left

Chorus

  • Clashes:
    • Top row smites bottom row once
    • Bottom row smites top row once
    • Top row smites bottom row twice
    • Bottom row smites top row twice
  • Half hey.
  • Repeat

Notes

Choreographed on January 26, 2021.

The internet sea shanty sensation. Entirely choreographed on Zoom, for Zoom. The first native Zoomington dance not adapted from existing dances (though its form borrows heavily from Fieldtown).

In Person variation

First danced June 20, 2021.

Fieldtown figures (foot up, half hands, back to back, rounds)

Chorus:

  • Clashes:
    • Odd row smites even row once
    • Even row smites odd row once
    • Odd row smites even row twice
    • Even row smites odd row twice
  • Half hey.
  • Repeat

Use the Zoomington hey rather than the Fieldtown hey (rationale: the tempo is too fast for the Fieldtown hey and the music doesn't sound good if we slow it down enough to ameliorate that).

  • side step right
  • side step left
  • hockleback (retreating only slightly)
  • foot together jump (slightly forward to return to set lines)

Music

Sing chorus (in B minor) as intro. Switch keys, alternating between Bm and Em, after each chorus.
